I need a new stock

Hey guys I had an old Marine look at my 54 and he said that I need a new stock because the trigger guard has zero tension when trying to lock it down and the lugs are not flat, he had a 53 stock and we got to looking at the two and my stock doesn't even look the same. Where is a good place to get a replacement stock?

i have A LOT of used stocks (maybe 200). I am headed out of town for a week, but if you can wait until I get back, I can probably get you something at a fair price. If you just want a new production stock, Dupage is the ticket

If you cant find what you need from Sean I can send you a piece of walnut veneer to glue in the trigger assembly area.
If your lugs on the trigger guard have flat spots you need to address that issue first

The lugs have no flat spots we even tried a different trigger group and still had the same problem, He suggested a new stock to correct the problem which is when firing the trigger group comes un-latched.

Don't forget,If you have a refridgerator(sp) magnet You can cut strips that will sit on the trigger group flats and save You a stock purchase.

Before you buy a stock double check the trigger guard that it is latching completely down, just because it looks latched doesn't mean its locked down, the T/G tang can hit the stock preventing full clamping force and when you fire the rifle the recoil undoes the whole works. This has happened too me in the past, a little extra wood removal in the middle where the T/G tang comes closest too the stock helps.

no, but I can get you plenty of walnut shaped like garand stocks that will properly hold your rifle

Hump is such a nasty word. I prefer "Restore".

Yea if it was gonna be ''say'' a new GAW stamp over what you knew was a old GAW id say restore, but a New Stamp on a unknown pedigree id still call humped

well guys my marine buddy fixed her up! he put on an original stock, timed, headspace checked and recrowned the muzzle. The gun is tight and looks amazing! Thanks for all who responded :)
