Your thoughts on Remington 1911 R1

I am thinking about getting a 1911 and am currently looking at the basic R1 made by Remington. I can get it off of GunGenie for around $690.

Anybody have any experience with this pistol? Is it worth the price? Anything better in this price range? etc.

The guy that I shoot pistol matches with bought a Springfield Range Officer because it had some upgrades that he didn't need to make (sights, safety, etc) for it to be his back-up match pistol. For about the same price point you get more bang for the buck if you go a different route than the R1.

I think the Remington is all MIM also.Not forged machining.You know what I mean.
