Shuff's Summer 2011 Postal Shoot

Stay tuned, I'm having a Battle Tested Forum Member Postal shoot coming soon. Any member of this forum is eligible for this postal shoot. The prize will be a 30/40 Krag Rifle I purchased from the CMP a few years ago. The rifle is still as I purchased it. There is no stryker and it is in fair condition over all. If you've always wanted a Krag, this could be your big chance. You can plan on the rules being similar to last time.

Hello all BT members! I'm having a 2011 BT Member Postal Shoot. Here's what is happening ;

-There are prizes
-There is an entrance fee ($10)
-You must be a BT member to enter and you must post on this thread that you are entering to purchase a ticket. If you have a friend that may be interested, have them join BT and rock on with their bad selves. Yes, this means if you're visiting now all you need to do is JOIN and enter
-There is a 30/40 Krag Rifle to the Grand Prize winner
-There will be two more prizes of which I don't know what they are yet. One for the best story and one for the best photo's
-If you aren't going to shoot, you can still purchase a target ticket to send in
-When you enter the shoot, you will get one ticket in my raffle for the Krag for each $10 ticket you purchase
-The winner of the shoot will get 49 additional tickets in the raffle and that will not guarantee a win, ask Orlando LOL
-You could have the worst score in the shoot and still win the Krag
-You can purchase as many targets as you want
-There will be a prize for the best photo's of your shoot
-There will be a prize for the best story of your shoot
-You get 8 shots from any M1 Garand receivered weapon with open sights for each $10 ticket you buy
-You may have a front rest ONLY and NO rear rest
-The range is 100 yards or further so if you are pacing it off, please be generous :)
-You can use any damn ammo you like
-You may start shooting now
-You can pay and enter by sending in an order form from my site with your check http://shuffsparkerizing.com/order/
-I don't care how many people enter this thing, it's not about my making any money
-The grand prize Krag is in the same shape I got it from the CMP, has what looks like original finish, Walnut Stock, good barrel, it may even need another part or two but I think just a stryker is needed, I'll post photo's later
-You have UNTIL August 1st 9pm EST to have your target and payment post marked to me and in the mail
-You also have UNTIL August 1st at 9pm EST to have a story and photo's of your shoot posted in the recreational room, if you wish to possibly win the prize for best story or photo's. I will be judging both of these subjective categories
-I will score the targets by simply adding up the numbers and whomever has the highest number wins. I will decide a tie by closest group to the center of the "X"
-I will be announcing the winners by August 10th if your targets are here or not so don't be busting on me if the mail Screws you
-All targets and payments should be sent to Tim Shufflin 8300 Walworth Rd., Jerome, MI 49249
-The winner of the Krag will have to have an FFL for me to send the rifle to. It does qualify as a curios

Guys help an old stup from KY. I need to post a target at 100 ky yards (wild assed guess) and shoot at it how many times?
Then poke holes in the 5 ring so it looks like I am a good shot and then mail it to Shuff with a ten dollar bill. Then in August Shuff will mail me the Krag. Did I miss anything?

Everytime you look at the bottom of your stock, at that little ding behind the pistolgrip, just think of me because I'm the one that put it there. And by the way, I shot the pi$$ out of that thing. The barrel was so hot the front sight fell off. There are other things I did to it but this isn't the War Room so I can't say. Stu

No I sure didn't set any new high score records, but I did have one helluva GOOD TIME,(when I wasn't wiping sweat outta my eyes) So my targets are shot!

Yea those pics are staged, (just for the photo contest) I did shoot from that stool, but I used a set of Primos shooting stix for my rest.

No one else is crazy enough to go with me when it's 104 degrees. So I have to sit the camera up on a tripod set the timer then get seated and fire within 10 seconds. So the rounds being fired there were actually being fired in the "general direction" of a tree. It's cool to catch the brass in flight! I had the camera set in front of me

and I fired a clip like this! (hoping to catch muzzle flash and brass in flight), but the first round caused the camera to "refocus" and put a 'lil bit of powder residue on the lens, lol! I thought for just a minute there I'd FUBAR'd a $600.00 Cannon Camera!
I have this thing for "killing electronics" ya know!

Took my CMP Rack Grade Garand VAR Barrel that Shuff reparked a f ew years back
Shot several targets but couldnt improve on the one I shot the other day so this one is getting sent in

I got tired of shooting holes in paper so set this empty case on my target frame at 50 yds. Second shot and score!

Time to make it alittle tougher, I set some empty 22 cases on the target frame. Hit them but couldnt find them.
OK ,now to really up the ante. Stuck 6 empty cases in the backerboard

Wind picked up so it got tougher, had to really read the wind.
It took a few rds but hit them all knocking them threw the carboard. I looked hard for the cases but never found them.

I finally got to range this morning. Didn't forget the ammo or camera like last year. It was cooler (high 80's) and with a lot less humidity then it was for the past 2-3 weeks. But it was windy today too. I fired 2 clips to sight-in and then shot 5 more clips at the targets. The target looked a lot smaller this year though. This was the best one after the wind died down a bit.
I was using my 5.88 mil SG and HXP 63

It's over, I mailed the winning target today. Yeah I waited until the last damn minute, just like with my taxes. I stood in line at the post office and asked them to post mark my letter.

OK, the winning target! I went to the range last Friday, shot my 6 digit SA Tim rebuilt with a new CMP barrel. 78 HXP, 100 yards from the bench. Drum roll please.........

Nah, just kidding! That's not the target I mailed today. But I did fire it benched with the new barreled SA with 78HXP. I backed the Schuster plug all the way out and fired one round at a time with both front and rear sand bags. I don't have a spotting scope, just use my binoculars. I fired four rounds, looked at the target and all I could see was one hole low, "What the heck?" I fired four more rounds and walked down range. When I got closed enough I could clearly see the target I thought, "Crap, the one day I come alone and no one else is at the range to witness this! No one will believe I fired that group with a Garand." Well it is what it is, believe it or not.

Here's the target I mailed today. This one was also fired the same but with a front bag only, rear sight adjusted and with the Schuster reset for semi-auto. Not as good as the 1st target but not bad, for me.

Then it was time to break out the Mini-G and have some fun. These are fired 100 yards, front and rear bag, 78 HXP. Fist target grouped high but a good group.

Not bad for a Mini-G with a used barrel! Thanks Tim for the great builds! I've got two like new 6 digit SA's and one 6 digit SA Mini-G, I'm blessed! I love to show these off at the range when ever I can, the G draws the most attention. Just wait until I finish that nice striped birch stock and guard for the G, I'm working on it! :)
