Not quite sure if I found a collectable or not. But I believe I have an original box of 30-06 M1 reserve ammo.
The M1 ball was the predecessor to the M2 ball that we are all familiar with.

As you can see in the photo, the box is in rough condition. I can just see inside of it from a hole in the side. The ammo is on brass 5 round stripper clips.

Paid $20 for the box so it won't break the bank if I messed up!

Did some more research last night. The M1 ammo was manufactured between 1926 and 1938 and was designed for use in the 1903 Springfield rifles. The military was supposed to use the M1 ammo up first before switching to the M2 ball. It was pulled from service in 1940 due to the excessive damage it was causing to the "new" semi-auto service rifles.
