DuPage Garand?

Any opinions or experience with these? Considering the current lead time @ CMP, might be worth the extra $25 FFL transfer fee it would cost me. What do you think?

I bought one of his garands a couple of years ago. I wanted a certain WWII s/n range. I called him and he found one.
It was a mixmaster of WWII and postwar parts. The barrel has a muzzle of 1 and the T/E is 2.5. The stock and hand guards were his walnut replacement set.
The finish was worn, but it didn't matter because I was going to have Tim repark the rifle after I put the correct parts on it.
It's comparable to the CMP SG. I see he is putting birch stocks on his rifles now,

I've never had an issue with any of the rifles I've purchased from Dupage.

Just in case in anyone is interested, just ordered one today and they said there were only about 15 remaining. Once mine arrives I'll post my thoughts on it. Anyway just thought I'd pass on the info.

OK, just picked it up and made a cursory inspection. Receiver SN puts the receiver born date at March 1943, deeply stamped and easy to read. Milled trigger guard with SA stamp. 2SA bolt with excellent face. Barrel is dated '52, with shiny bore and no signs of pitting. Overall fit and finish looks good to me, but I am certainly no expert. Stock is stained a nondescript brown, which I don't care for, but being new that is no big deal. Probably will replace it with a new walnut finished with Fairtrimmers Military oX. After I give the rifle a good cleaning, and check the TE and MW, I'll post some pics and anything else I find.

My initial impression is that the rifle is well worth what they charge.

That rifle is a FAR better value than any field grade the CMP sells.

Just another update. After considering logistics regarding ammo, I decided to have it rebarreled in .308, 'cause I have an ample supply for my 14's and am set up to reload that caliber. Anyway she is on the way to Tim for his CMP Special with a new walnut stock. I'll post pics when she gets back home!
