View Full Version : Barrel/Receiver arrived.

Fed-ex delivered my barreled-receiver this morning.
Mailed the order into CMP the end of December. Got acknowledged January 26. Got shipped March 7.

Serial Number puts it in March of 1945. The barrel is a new SA 1-55.
The bolt is a SA postwar with a heat lot of Z-1.
There is some minor pitting under the receiver that got parked over and the lettering and S/N are worn.


I had nothing to do today, and since I had a lot of spare parts, I decided to build a rifle !!!!

Looks real nice. Did you check headspace?? Both mine failed the Go Gauge, not by much but did fail. I informed CMP of this and they said to send them back. I will fix them myself so wasnt worth the hassle. There were more reports on the CMP forum of short headspace

Headspace was fine and the barrel was indexed correctly.

Global warming does have it benefits. The latest batch of the snow and ice melted last week.

Can't wait till winter is over. It was 65 today and tomorrow is supposed to be 70. Brrrrr. Ok enough of that. Very nice rifle. Still gathering parts for mine.

Question. Anyone want to guess what the timeframe would be on a bare reciever ordered from the CMP?

I am thinking a little bit less than a Rifle, about a month to get to your order, maybe 2 1/2 weeks to ship it.

Very nice! Good looking rifle. How's it shoot?
I was impressed with the B/R I got from CMP a couple months ago.

Nice, especially with a new barrel......Hope mine looks that good, Would really like the new barrel, it won't be a SA , as they already have sold most of them...many moons to wait now.. OG.
