Well like it says I'm behind enemy lines. I'm considering having a mini g made to replace my M1a assualt rifle. So I know I would need to have the bayonet lug chopped off, no flash suppressor, ect also I'm looking for the mag conversion. But I was wonder what the cheapest route would be for a donor garand? Should I just order the cheapest grade from cmp or would there be a better route for a donor? In the end I'm looking for 308 mag fed mini g thats NOT a NY assualt rifle as long as I use a 7 round or less magazine in it. I'm assuming 5 round m14 magazines will work in the mini g?
would this be consider the "Deluxe Modification $800 + add the mini-g conversion $300"?
According to the ny safe act page mini 14's are not assualt weapons

My new york legal Shuff's BM-14. Not even one "evil feature". Higher quality than any M1A as it's built on a GI M1 receiver.

A lot of work goes into building these. I watched and got in the way when mine was built. Took Tim an entire day. When you see what M1A's are going for these days the BM-14 is pretty much a bargain.

This is the BM-69 replica Tim built for me. Every part, with the exception of the receiver and barrel is original Beretta. Tim copied the original in every detail. No compromise. It is a clone of the original and also has a GI receiver. The rifle now sports a new york legal magazine.

What would the cost be to build the BM-14 like that and how would I go about it as far as donor parts ect ? Just order one and have it mailed to ffl dealer ??

Punch the Clown has a GI stock, I use new stocks. I would suggest that you call me for information when you can. Cost would be similar to the mag fed Mini-G listed on my site under "complete rifles" with the addition of some items from Standard Parts.

You'd need me to add in;
- Drop down gas cylinder bm59
- Drop down brake bm59
- Shuff's bolt stop

Big problem right now is getting .308 barrels. Without the tube I can't make a thing.

I wanna watch and get in the way too :) NY is way out of hand. Owning a M-1a, Garand or any other rifle should never be questioned whatsoever. Let alone a American rifle no less. Or drinking a big gulp for that matter... while I smoke my cigar and eat some jerky while I wait for the bacon wraped around my barrel to finish cooking. You cant go wrong with drop fordged WWII Garands man I say go for it.

Punch what is the story with the barrels on those fine specimens are they both berettas?

The top one is a Beretta clone. The bottom one takes M14 mags. The M14 uses a standard tanker barrel. The BM69 clone has a barrel that started out as a full length Criterion that Tim machined to duplicate the original Beretta Silma.

So the old style Tanker conversion barrel that had room for the short modded front handguard musta needed a longer custom bm62 style op rod thats cool. leaves it with the bm59 vibe with the little gap between the ferrel and gas tube. so to rock the gas tube flush tight againt the ferrel im guessing a full length barrel is needed to have the room for putting on the new threads and gasport etc like this one.908

Actually I can convert a tanker barrel to make the transformation to a G as the picture you posted.

Are you married to the idea of a Detachable Magazine? If you get just a mini-G using enbloc clips, you are NYS legal with any number of evil features. (you can keep the bayo lug). To be an assault weapon in NY it has to:

1. Be Semi-Auto
2. Have a detachable magazine
3. Have 1 or More Evil Features (Bayo lug, pistol grip, flash hider, muzzle break, threaded barrel for FH/MB, thumbhole stock, grenade launcher, ect).

See: http://www.governor.ny.gov/assets/documents/RiflesBannedFeatures.pdf

Considering how fast it is to reload with en blocs and you are only losing 2 rounds in capacity compared to a box mag ( law states loading up to ten while at the range is still allowed) I think sticking with the clip is the way to go.once I can pick up a spare donor garand at a decent price I may have to do a mini g in 308. The short stubby 10 round mags are hard to insert and lock in comparison to jamming an en bloc in

Do the mag conversion first. then you won't have to do it later for more money.
If you stay with enblocs You will wish you converted to mags.
You always got a M1 garand for enblocs.

Yes, clips are also cheaper so you can keep more rounds loaded up and ready to go. But the real advantage is in NY you can keep the bayonet lug and use a muzzle break if you want. With a detachable mag either one of those would make it an assault weapon.

I have an HRA service grade on order for my conversion. I'm trying to talk my wife into a 4.5hr drive to the North Store to pickup one rather than wait the 90-120 days at this point.. :)
