I think it was in the 1.07mil range. Blued, most likely not original blueing. It had a RIA stamped just ahead of the grip on the frame up high near the slide.
They wanted 1k. Seems like a lot to me for a 1911 like that.
It would be nice to add a vintage 1911 to the collection so I'm wondering what I should look for.
Thanks.

RIA= Rock Island Arsenal. It was inspected and/or rebuilt by them at one time. Should possible also be arsenal inspector initials, ether EB or FK, FK if it was done before 1946 or EB from 1946 to 1957. So, depending on what they did it could be close to original or anything between. $1K isn't that far off base. This site has the info you need http://coolgunsite.com/pistols/1911infopage.htm

That guy really doesn't like selling his stuff does he? Seems like he's more into collecting and showing off.

The neighbor just showed me his remington rand, it is heavily worn and looks like it was nickleplated afterwards?? It shoots good, He has some old 1945 steel cased shells for it..I told him should use brass, but he said "Why"?My reply was they were collectors and might be hard on the gun??I don't know how many boxes he got with it..It was a gift from an old friend..Priceless??
