I keep writing the White House, reminding the President about little things like the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment, and they keep sending me back letters thanking me for supporting the administration's stand on gun control?

I got same crap back every time I wasted my time writing a letter. Listen to what I am telling you people - calling and writing politicians is a giant waste of your time. I am sick and f-ing tired of the azzhats all over the CMP forum screaming at people to call and write letters. IT WILL NOT DO ANY GOOD. Anyone that thinks it will is too stupid to save.

What's even better is that they open each letter with a "Thanks for helping us preserve the 2nd Amendment". I assume that they count these communications as a big thumbs up for the administration on the gun control issue. No wonder 97% of Americans favor gun control.

You keep getting letters and email to call your senetors. Can't they read my address and see who mine are? A bigger waste of my time I have yet to see!

Done deal. Were screwed. When I see chuck shumer with a smile on his face I see the devil celebrating. This bill has enough loopholes that the Gov't will do damn well what they want to. Another shooting?----bye bye whatever type firearm the resembles that in the shooting. They will throw in high-caps just for good measure. Know I sound like a defeatist, but just being realistic. Too many votes depending on the gov't. Too many low information voters. Too many voters who believe everything they see on MSNBC. Too many states with restrictive firearm legislation with huge big city entitlement voters. Dems and Repubs are all the same.

Bottom line is : THEY DON'T CARE. period. end of discussion. Until you can get at least 51% of the VOTING population to make a pro-gun stand, you're screwed.
I've said it before and, despite the NY law (I think) be overturned, we are no more than 2 generations away from being a 100% unarmed citizenry

I am so glad that I was able to persuade my children to NOT join the military and defend this country. There's not much worth fighting for. The enemy is from within.

I understand how you feel Tim...
I still believe in this country and this is all we have right now. We have to fight for what we believe in to the end. My family has provided this country with too many soldiers and lost a few. We can't give up. I am still proud of this country. We have to make the changes and generate new candidates who will protect our rights by voting out the assholes.
This will not happen overnight...This will take several elections to get back on track! All we can do is keep doing the same thing and more. Keep The Fight!!

To send your Son for employment in the armed forces, I have to ask, who is worth fighting for? Does anyone watch the news and see the masses of useless "people" that now inhabit this country? My child to offer his life for one of these? No thank you!

I can understand your feelings and let me tell you that, as a Father of two children (12 and 8), I have thought long and hard about what role I think they should have in the upcoming widespread conflict that we are sure to see.
This is the conclusion that I've come up with: I've decided that, while I don't want them thrown into the meat grinder for the wrong reasons, if they decide that they would want to fight for their friends, family, property and/or the American dream I will have to respect their decision because they will be of age to make that decision for themselves.
And while their are many freeshitters and assholes that will hide behind the blood of our Children, you need not look too far and you will see numerous things that are worth fighting for.

I see nothing worth fighting for. It is now things to fight against.

I see nothing worth fighting for.
I feel sorry for you in that regard. I see a lot of things in my daily life that I would fight for.
I'm guessing that we're pretty close to being on the same page, but we just have different ways of viewing the situation.

Don't feel sorry for me, the things in my life worth fighting for I can defend quite nicely without anyone I know gaining employment with the military. In fact, the people I love will be helping me by not being employed by the military. It seems that it would be just one less person taking my rights away if there were one less government employee.

Our nations soldiers have in my opinion rarely went to war to fight "for someone".
Soldiers enlist to fight for the freedom our country represents. They actually fight in the field for their buddies who've trained, sweat and bled with them. But overall is the freedom America is.
My Grandfather and multiple Uncles didn't enlist because they loved FDR (to a man they hated him), Rockefeller, the multitude of Americans supporting the communist part in that era, those who believed in Hitlers germany including many prominent celebraties of the day.
My Dad didn't enlist to fight for the left wing and even communist sector that was large in the 50's, or for jane fonda in the 60's/70's.
I didn't enlist to fight for the stupid people who populated the country in the 80's.
Those (few) and millions more enlisted to fight (and die) for American freedom and it's continuation.
There were (and always have been since time began) what you call "useless people" in large numbers in the country, during the Revolution, thru the Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea, VN, and today. History proves that. The good folks didn't give up and most won't today.
Thank goodness the original founding citizens of the United States of America didn't have a defeatest attitude. They endured crown rule/taxation, search and siezure without limit, billiting of troops in their homes, british loyalist's/traitors, on and on and on it went. Far greater obstacles than what we face today.
They didn't have the constitutional protections you and me enjoy, they created them for the first time on the planet.
You live in the most free nation on the planet, you run a buisness in the most buisness friendly country ever. I've run a small business for over 20 years here, Thank God. It's as bad as I've seen in my lifetime and maybe as bad as it's been in the history of the Republic but it's still the greatest place and the greatest hope on earth.
The day we abandon the U.S. Military to people who "feel" they have ask "who is worth fighting for" then the battle is lost.
Hopefully when this economy comes back, I'll be sending a M-1 to you for a Mini-G conversion. But I would hope you might rethink your outlook on the U.S. Military and their objectives. We have a fight ahead as free citizens, but it's a lessor fight than our predecessors have faced in the past and won. And we will win.
Or maybe you just disagree with me on fundamentals but that's my take. Too many people are discouraged when they should be girding up for the political fight ahead. My opinion.

This is my exact point, the battle is lost. This is also not the most free place in the world but it is the best overall place to live, currently, in my opinion. Tomorrow looks like hell though as we have now aspired to be more like the less free places instead of the more free places. I have no battle with the us Military, I have real issues with the reasons people become employed by it. It seems that most of the fighting is done by those of the mindset that freedom matters instead of by those that want a socialist utopia. Let the socialist do the fighting and dying, I have no use for them.
I will also add that there is not one military conflict we've had since WWII that is worth the life of my kids or me. If something is not worth me or mine dying for then I don't encourage others to do the dying for me.

The socialist won't fight and die. The more Americans that give up, the more of a guarantee that all will be lost. All is not lost. Do you not see that when you post your thoughts and ramblings that you are still fighting? You refuse to believe or admit that, but, you are. A lot of people are very influential. You may be the one who can change someone's vote. The fight will always be here. Just depends on how you do the fighting.

...the battle is lost.
That is bullshit and you know it.
If you believed for a second that that is true, you wouldn't be here doing what you do.
I care because I was raised by this man to know that as long as you are willing to fight, they can't win. He did the RVN to Okinawa to Alaska to Seattle to Bathesda trip in a full bodycast. They said he would never walk again... he proved them wrong.

Guys, the takers have now outnumbered the producers. Unless someone who is a strict Constitutionalist runs as a liberal, they lie to get office, and then drop the hammer with a truly conservative congress, we may never see a true statesman in office again.
If there being something to fight for means some liberal republican gets into office, yes that may happen again but it does nothing to gain back the freedoms we have lost. The supreme court, where the real political power lies, cannot be tipped in the future unless I have greatly miscalculated the math regarding the appointments the communist oboombya will make. At best the liberal court will remain 5-4 with the 5 being only moderate conservatives.
The speaker of the house has proven to be gutless.
The Tea Party senator marco rubio has now proven to be gutless.
We just had a so called republican senator from PA betray us on the 2nd.
Our tax dollars are going to low lifes with potted plants for farms to the tune of $50,000 each totaling over 2.5 BILLION dollars.
We have a socialist health care program which even the people here, including me, will not be willing to give up in 10 years, we will be hooked.
Our military is bloated and run not based on need, but by which congressman or senator wants jobs in their district.
It is rare to find anyone who truly believes in the free market anymore. Look at even the CMP forum and it is awash with morons who want limits, price control, want what's "fair".
In the current 2nd amendment debate we have had countless so called "gun" people call for gun control.
Kids are being kicked out of school for wearing pro NRA T-shirts. For pointing their fingers at other kids at the age of 5!
We have 3 current scandals in the white house that NONE of the 3 air networks have lifted one finger over.
I won't give up because it's not in my nature either but I in no way see how the enemy is outside of our borders, it is here. Enemies of the Constitution everywhere. Our children are serving us better by staying home, making money, gaining political power, voting, and not serving for one second some old geeser in the white house who doesn't even have the audacity to declare the wars they make.
As a final note, the problems we have now are NOT less then the problems our grandparents had. At the time of their existence the takers did not outnumber the producers. The "greatest generation" has sucked this country dry and made doing nothing an actual career choice. War is easy, any fool can die, but keeping a country free can be very inconvenient. The giant sucking sound created by fdr and my grandparents that voted for it has only grown louder.
God save the Republic, hopefully by not completely killing it first.
