Wasn't sure where to post this exactly, but here goes.

What is the best method and product to use, to bring back into use an original 1942 leather Garand scabbard, that has been paid absolutely no attention in at least 65 years?

Seriously, this scabbard is rock-hard, I want to use it on my Jeep eventually, and I'm scared to death that it will crack wide open the first time I put my Garand in it.

What do I do? I've been told that a product called "Pecard's" will work, but I've never used it before.

If its dry rotted/cracked nothin will bring it back to a safe usable condition.

It's actually in excellent shape, other than being bone dry. No cracking or dry rot to speak of. The only real negative about it is that the straps are missing, but I think I can find a set pretty easily, even if it has to be a repro set.

Orlando is right. There is no way to rejeuvenate leather. You can slow down it's decay but that's about it. Stu

Any leather dressing should work or at least worth a try.
