Recent pictures from a church in France, nice to know that the sacrifices of those lost was and still is recognized.

"The Battle for St. Mere Eglise
St. Mere Eglise, June 06, 1944 at 01:40 am. American Airborne Troops parachute into and around this tiny village at a great loss of life. Many were killed during their descent and after getting hung up in trees, buildings etc. The place was crawling with Germans being located on a route that they would use to counter attack Utah and Omaha beaches. As such, it was essential to capture. The lightly armed paratroopers did just that and courageously held it until reinforced by armor on the afternoon of June 7th, 1944."

Have these pictures been verified? Your post say 'a church in France', do you know if it's St. Mere Eglise?

I ask because my wifes great-grandfather dropped onto St. Mere Eglise that day. He was 506th F Co. He passed away in 2009. He only started talking about it a couple years before his death and now his daughter, my wifes grandmother, has had tons of questions about where he servered and so on. Of course we've all explained D-Day and so on. Anyway, back to the pics, I would like to show these pics to her but if this is just another internet thing I'd pass.

I would also find it odd that the French would hold onto anything recognizing our involvement in their freedom for more than a week or two.

No, they are not just random internet pictures. These were taken by a coworker on vacation last week, note the date, they were represented and titled as St Mere Egleis but will verify exact details of pics. Will send a PM because I am sure he has more from his visit and I can send these full size, the details are great.

I would like to think the rank and file French still remember the US. I hope it's probably the liberals over there just like here that are jerks.
