This sling is 1.5" wide vs 1.25' on regular web sling. Any ideas what it was made for. It is also about 4" to 5" shorter.

The first Colt model 601 (AR15) came with a sling similar to yours. The one's I've seen that were for sure originals had the web sewn with a raw edge showing, not folded over. Sewing on yours looks more like a rigger or repair item. But who knows. The Colt 601 slings were shorter.

Here's some info:

As I remember M16 slings are same width as garand sling so it wouldnt be that
It looks like a M20 Bazooka sling to me. Whats the overall length?

Overall lenght 41" tip to tip including metal clip. Should this have the clip sewed on the end instead of a buckel like a garand sling? Looks like it could been done later maybe not original.

Nope not rare at all, I have had several of them. Might get $10 give or take "if" you can find someone that needs one. Thats the thing there isnt much of a call for them.
