This six digit spent far too long getting tossed around and used as a torture device for former recruits such as myself. USCG CC's love to have the boots hold the M1 drill rifles out at arms length for what felt like hours. Well after my puny dremel knocked the welds off, some new wood and a new gas system it was off to Michigan. So when I got home today I saw the pick slip from the mail man. After 45 minutes of looking for him I was able to get my rifle. All I can say is WOW!, the work was impeccable. I had sent Tim a strung together rifle made from salvaged parts, and I got back a thing of beauty. I couldn't find a damn thing wrong with it. Tim obviously takes a lot of pride in his work, and It shows.
I hope to get to the range in the next week, I'll be sure to post more then. 1054

These are custom made at a machine shop near me and they are machined from a solid billet.

Just started doing them. Maybe a week. I had a few rifles earlier I tried them out on when I had some test bands. Just recently got them in quantity.

Here is my own home made version that I had you use on my G about a year and half ago.

Yah bucky, the one I'm using is thicker, wouldn't even work with the old style barrel. It's a gas port thing.

So a no-go retrofit on older Gs?

when did they sell the USCG rifles? I hated them when I was at cape may, running a mile with one raised over your head will do that.

I was just generalizing it as a drill rifle, I doubt it is from Cape May. I'd like to think it was, but I doubt it.

When did you go to Cape May? I was there in may 87, spent 8 years playing Coast Guard.

Playing is right, the post 9/11 coast guard is spread so thin and going in some many directions, it go frustrating. I went though basic in early 2008, had an early midlife crisis and joined a few years after college. Did 5 years, and just got out, the new GI bill was too good to pass up. Time to get a real job.

It was spread pretty thin back when I was in, i don't think I would like the new homeland security coast guard. I spent most of my time in on 180 ft bouy tenders, and 110 pb's.
