Well, after an e-bay sale that was shipped over 1 month ago, I checked the tracking and I see the package is now on it's way back to me. I would expect that the receiver did not accept delivery, and who could blame them. 1 month from ny to Texas is a bit long. Now, will the usps refund my e-bay fees and postage?

Unfortunatly only with Priority Mail express are times garunteed
I did have a rifle take a week to go from Ohio to Texas when it should have been there in 3 days and a package took 8 days to go 200 miles.
Other than that over the several hundreds of packages I have shipped all arrived on time and no damage. Maybe Ive been lucky??

I did notice that just receintly tracking accuracy has improved 100% and $50 worth of Insurance now comes with Priority Mail.

Stu

I am waiting on an 03a3 stock from cali. According to the tracking it will be delivered on the 18th of September. Well that did not happen. It also shows that package is still in cali. I feel your pain bro!

Tracking accuracy has improved 100%????!!!!! My arse it's improved, not on my end anyways. I still do not provide tracking numbers because when I check on them they say my packages either are sitting at the Jerome post office or they don't even have record past some hub point. Maybe 40% of my packages are tracked properly.

Have you tried tracking lately? USPS supposably updated because of all the complaints, new tracking started I think in August
I know what you mean though, used to be it never showed the package moved until it was delivered.
Last couple packages I tracked showed every stop. I'm not sticking up for them just stating my results

Here is the package tracking as of today. Notice it took 3 weeks initially to move from my PO to the sort facility, which are about 1/4 mile apart. Also note the package is getting closer to me. It was going to Texas but it took the scenic route through several other states and now it's in new jersey. They really do suck (the usps).

What your info says to me is that you printed a label on 8/25/13 and it didn't get to the sort facility until 9/13/13. So it sat somewhere's in Brooklyn that whole time, either at your place or the postal station. That's the way it looks.

If it's an Ebay sale and if you refunded to your Ebay customer you can cancel the transaction if if buyer agrees when Ebay contacts him then transaction goes away and you fees are refunded.

If item was paid for via paypal and it showed it was covered by buyer protection you don't have to worry. Under $150. (may be higher) you out of it and purchaser makes a claim. Ebay/Paypal take care of it.

Have shipped ALOT of packages thru USPS. They handle millions upon millions of packages. Big USPS centers like probably what Brooklyn is will have a proportionate amount of "what happened". If you sell on Ebay and take Paypal that's what the fees are for. Your and your customers protection. For awhile I was getting hit bigtime with "I never got it" complaints. That has all but disappeared because if the customer has to go to Ebay/Paypal they track the level of complaints. I use to cover the "missing" items, not any more.

And.......Part of being in "business" means this is the kind of stuff you have to deal with. Missing packages, idiot customers, customers who are thieves, crappy vendors, the U.S. Gov't, the state Gov't, and on some days us the seller who fouls up, and any combination of these.

Hey Stu
just curious ,how did you ship? Standard Mail, First Class, Priority?

Punch The Clown
09-24-2013, 05:35 PM
Standard post. I think it used to be parcel post. Priority or first class from now on though.

Orlando
09-24-2013, 05:40 PM
Yup, thats the reason, I wouldnt ship a empty box standard mail. No excuse for them but thats the worst way to ship
First class or Priority only

Punch The Clown
09-25-2013, 07:48 PM
Well, I re-shipped the package. This time priority (yeah, right) mail. It took 2 days so far for it to make the several hundred foot trip from the p.o. to the distribution center. Way to go usps!

Stu, you are gonna love this ........
Heard on the news tonight the USPS are wanting to raise the price of stamps a couple cents

Punch The Clown
09-26-2013, 07:46 AM
Four days now and the package shipped "priority mail" is about a 30 minute drive from my house. These people deserve to lose their jobs, or the p.o. should be managed by UPS or FedEx.

You might want to check with the person ypu are shipping to. Maybe its arrived and they never updated tracking?
I shipped a package and it was showing setting in Iowa for a few days ,come to find out it was delivered
So much for them doing better on tracking???

Punch The Clown

Bill, I mailed it on Monday, when they PO first opened. Notice it sat there for 2 days before they even acknowledge that they accepted it. .

You can't really expect them to deliver on time with all the other stuff they have to fit in their daily schedule???

USPS delivered one of two packages today from brownells. The second one they're not to sure were it is but they are hopping it shows up tomorrow. Which I'm hopping, brownells sent out a $220 reamer with only $50 insurance.

Standard post. I think it used to be parcel post. Priority or first class from now on though.

Yes this has also become my norm ,unless I know the guy on the other end is a "BT" member or a good guy.
Out of thousands of deals ,I have run into only a couple of a$hholes that just could not be pleased,no matter what. If there is an issue on my end, I will make it right. If they are a little winey Obummer voter that feels like you are owed something and they found the item they bought from me somewhere else cheaper after they purchased mine and they demand a refund and they threaten me with negative feedback if I do not comply. Well .... I will take the negative FB and move on.

Just had a rifle shipped on Saturday from Cali to Ohio made it on Monday !! ,dont ask me how it made it that fast.
Now heres the kicker, the seller didnt have a shipping box and was afraid of shipping becuase of damage the rifle might receieve .I sent him a CMP shipping box, with 1/4 plywood glued to the inside of box,he wrapped it in bubble wrap then it was sandwiched between the two pieces of foam.
Rifle arrived with the oprod handle sticking through the bubble wrap, foam, 1/4 inch plywood and cardboard!!! I dont know how but there was no damage to the rifle.
Now you have me losing faith in USPS

That's what happens when you sign a seven year contract with the lowest bidder (FedEx). Arguable the worst carrier there is.

Up until a few months ago would have defended USPS. But the last couple of months have been really dismal. Going by some other posts it seems that they are not doing very well with the expanded priority mail. Over last weekend one batch of 25 packages had 11 go missing. Eleven!--WTF! So as always, spend a whole bunch of time sending emails to USPS and in one case making it right for a customer who, since there was no tracking info, was convinced I never shipped the package. Pretty sad.

It's a plot to make you use the higher cost shipping services they offer...

I routinely use the flat rate boxes because of this. So far, knock on wood, I have not had an issue with mailed items. I like shipping with USPS because I can cash the MO at time of shipment (and also make sure the MO was legit).
