I was looking at some of my stuff. This rifle was manganese parked by Tim in 2009. It has been sitting in the safe slathered in oil since. The oxidized oil is turning it a really nice color. I think I'll give it another 50 years till it's done.

I bought a NOS gas cylinder from a member here... no lie, I kept it on my desk and smelled it for a few days before I installed it.

Just intoxicating.

Thanks Toolman. The rifle is all correct, including the stock. I collected all the parts but the finishes were so different a park job was in order. I'm telling you, the longer it sits the more "original" it becomes. I think I'll stamp all the parts "refinished" so that 50 years from now it won't be sold as original. Yeah right.

I use CLP for oil, and Plastilube for grease. The Plastilube seems to migrate all over if left alone. I think the combination of the two seems to do it. If I cleaned the thing with solvent I'm sure it'll go right back to park color though.
