CMP 308 rebarrel a good base rifle for conversion?

Is a CMP rebarreled 308 converted Garand a good rifle to be converted to a Mini-G?

It doesn't appear that I'm going to be able to find a sub-$500 "Shooter" Garand anytime soon

I'm equally as excited to get any Michigan customers. granholm has all but killed this state so I rarely get any Michigan business. I'd wager that Michigan is in the bottom 5 states for my business.

People around here don't seem to get as excited about Garands as they do Glocks and AR's. :(

I'd love it if there were Garands scaled for all calibers and used a clip instead of a magazine.
