Hi guys. I have a couple of questions about the CMP HRA and SA Service Grade Specials.
First off I have 4 of them ( 2 of each) and they seem to be as advertised, new old stock actions with new wood and stock metal. The barrels are new enough that they actually go through a break in period and some where around 100 to 150 rounds groups tighten up. The new button rifle bbls do not do this in my experience, being smooth to begin with.
My question:
Is CMP building these up from parts or do you think they are found in this shape just missing the stocks? (This is what was stated)
If they are building them up it will not lessen my satisfaction with the product, just do not want any kool-aid unless my Wife makes it.
Thanks and Take care.

It is my understanding that the SGS rifles were not built, but arrived without wood.
There have been many stories about these (like when they first came out that there were FEW available). I find it difficult to believe that they are assembled by the CMP though.

That's my understanding too. That they arrived without wood. CMP has been selling plenty of them for years now
It just seems strange to me that CMP has so many correct rifles without original wood.

My 2 cents, My Hra sg arrived with the most jacked up stock and fore arm...initials carved into front grip 2 inches tall..The hra stock nearly firewood, with huge dents..The rifle barrel looks brand new, the action hardly opened...A reparked sa op rod and new sa tg...happy, nah--not after 3 mos in the list.//they could have just as well put the correct parts on it, but nope, they wanted it to be misfit, when i complained it was ignored...Now dammit tell me--why I am trying to do it all again, and hope for the proper parts to show UP..Sticky or not they are a DEAd GAMBLE...IMHO. Og. Ps, sorry for the venting, the guys who buy the perfect rifles could care less, they just make more money...

OG,
I think you have the descriptions mixed up. OP is talking about the $950 Service Grade Specials, where I believe you got the $625 service grade.

For full disclosure I am not a "tweeter" and don't know if that is the correct use of the hashtag.

Ooopps, Yes, I was off track, NOT a Special, but it could be my special..I might get over it and try to fire it..I did not want to scratch any parts if i was trading for Hra type..But most want to send me som crap or rob me on the 'other' forum..So it might be saylavee, as shipped to me..Any way have plenty to play with and shoot..If its not bad tomorrow??? BTW the specials all have the correct parts?? Or Also switched??

Chevy Chase: I'm sorry. That’s election. The editorial was about the presidential election, not the presidential erection. Election.
Emily Litella: Oh, that’s very different.
Chevy Chase: Yes.
Emily Litella: [ smiling ] Never mind.

Old Saturday Night Live skit from the 1970s. Chevy would do the news and then she (Gilda Ratner) would come on to rant and she would always get the topic wrong. I guess you had to be there. ... and be old.

The service grade specials are about the nicest rifles I've ever seen come out of the cmp. Just re-stock it and it is a new correct rifle.
I liked when Dan Akroyd called Jane Curtin "A magnificently ignorant slut". Gilda Radner played Roseann Roseannadana. Funny stuff.
