View Full Version : Teak Oil

I have been experimenting with Teak Oil and have to say so far am pleased. The stocks come out very smooth /silky finish.
Teak Oil seems to seal up the wood more than BLO or Tung Oil
I'm still learning on how to use this oil but think its going to be what I will always use on stocks with figure/flaming as it really makes it pop

Nice job. I have a set of teak oiled end tables, their nice. I see all your M14 stocks, do you rescue Garand stocks too.

I havent used Teak Oil on Garand stocks yet but I have refinished many of them over the years

The stocks look real nice. Did you look at the ingredients on the teak oil can ? I may be wrong but I think it's a combination of linseed oil, varnish and some other oils that make it seals the wood. I may get a can of teak oil and try it.

No ingredients listed on can but I beleive you are correct

The teak oil certainly brings out the stocks character. I may have to experiment with a few of my older pieces to see what happens with different oils.

This is where I am at right now. The top set has been done with pure tung oil. The bottom has the boiled linseed oil. I am not sure when to stop applying the stuff. I think the linseed oil is saturated but the tung oil appears to keep dissapearing so it gets a coat once a week until I get my barrels cranked to the receivers in a few weeks.
