There are various ways to blacken a stainless steel gas cylinder. But one really good way is to have it Nitron finished.

This is a very durable nitride bath finish that imparts a very dark matte black.

I have mine done by Arma Coat in Thorhild, Alberta. These Breda parts came in today

Here's what it look like on a rifle. This is my first Garand. Notice how it matches the barrel. The finish looks like Parkerizing

nice, but what about the cost - especially since you have to ship it around. I can do a GC at home for a couple bucks that looks just as good.

Thornhild, Alberta is not far from me. Anyway, I have used gunkote on other things before. It works well; however, it does not match Parkerizing perfectly. And then Crabby will complain about me using gunkote at home. She will complain about the smell.

It was worth the extra money to me. Because the finish is perfect.
