It has been several years since I bought my Garand, but $900 seems a bit steep for this one to me. The MW and TE are nothing special, the wood is not original and the handguards don't even match. Has the M1 market really gone that high?

Sounds cheap. I sold off my collection of around 80 garlands almost 3 years ago and I didn't sell any of them that cheap

That's about going rate, maybe a bit less. The CMP prices are like wholesale, what they go for on the open market is considerably more. $1k is not unusual, especially on auction sites and gunshows. At gunshows it's not unheard of to see $1200-$1400. Not sure how fast they move at those prices, but it's what they are priced at, so they must move fast enough.
I bought my first Garand in 2005 on gunbroker, HRA, beautiful original finish, ME of 1, all correct HRA except the stock and oprod. I only paid $450. It ain't 2005 any more.
