Anybody use the Garand Gear gas plug? I need to pickup a plug for a Full Size Garand build and figured it might give me a bit more flexibility over a USGI plug.

I understand why a Schuster is neccesary for a Mini-G and like their plugs for that purpose, but since this build is fullsize if I can use the Garand Gear plug and not have to adjust it that'd be better in my opinion. I mostly shoot HXP and some 168gr handloads, so the USGI plug would probably be fine, but just figured it might give me more options down the line.

I use one in a full-length 30-06 Garand, and it hasn't caused any problems with cycling. I don't have any way to prove it does or doesn't reduce stress and fatigue on oprods, but it seems cheap insurance with non-GI loads.

It should be an okay plug for a full size Garand or a BM59. I think it is essentially shaped like a BM59 gas screw.

A BM59 Gas Screw is basically the same thing as a Garand Gears. If you have one laying around it would save you some $$$. Ii dont know why but personally I prefer the adjustable over the one size fits all approach. JMO

Thanks Orlando. No I have no unused plugs of any kind.

So what I read into it, you guys would just recommend I go with a schuster?

Can one of you talented guys post a photo of these plugs? I noticed a difference in one of the single slots i recieved witht a gas cyl deal? The bm59 e defuser i bought looks like it might be spacing the plug out a little extra?
