These are a blast to shoot. The darn rifle is so loud that others on the range think you are shooting a cannon. The ejector is so strong that the cases fly 30 or more feet. I actually dented a friends truck...OOPS with a series of case strikes.

The CETME is bad a$$ for sure. I have the video on how to build one but so far I'm staying true to the M1. I will say the FAL is on my list. Timmy has an Israeli heavy barrel. Those are bad to the bone. So many guns-so little time.

I am looking for an FN FAL they are not as stout as the CETME but I like the way it looks. I am trying for a heavy barrel as the original barrel is to light for sustained fire and heats up and gets whippy. Nice rifle you have there and yes the fun comes when you fire it and everyone is ducking your brass and trying to find their hearing protectors. Have fun with it!

I had one a few years ago and sold it to fund a BM59. I sure do miss it.

Speaking of FN FAL's, I used to own a matching numbers STG-58. Was in grad school at the time and money was tight. Took it to a gun show and sold it for enough to buy a new shotgun and a complete archery hunting set-up.

I had it built from a parts set so I didn't think anything of it at the time. Cool weapon but not something I could really "use". I often regret selling the rifle, but I got so much more from my bow and shotgun (now my dedicated turkey gun). Those $100 Imbel receivers were the heat for building a decent FAL. Now, you have to pay through the nose for any FAL receiver.

Hate to show my ignorance again, but is that 30.06 or .308?

I have always wanted one of those. However here in NYC they are a no no. I am now looking for a reasonable Egyptian FN49. I got a whole lot of 8mm on hand, and ony bolt guns to shoot it from.
