: Fw: Funeral At Arlington National Cemetery for Major General Greene-U.S.A
Subject: Funeral At Arlington National Cemetery for Major General
Greene-U.S.A.
Rarely do I feel a true need to send out an "all points" email, but today I
learned some information that I think is worthy of a mass email, as this
news is very telling of just how low things have become with our
Commander-In-Chief. I am currently in Springfield, MO teaching a NUCPS
motorcycle class. Late today I received an email from my oldest son David
that had a profound impact on me. Dave's email related that on Thursday,
August 14, the funeral for Major General Harold Greene, U.S. Army, was held
at Arlington National Cemetery. Major General Greene was killed in action
by hostile fire in Afghanistan on August 5th. The General's wife, Susan,
herself a retired U.S. Army colonel was present at the service, as well as
their son 1st Lieutenant Matthew Greene and other family members.
Just for the record, we have not had a general staff officer killed in
action on foreign soil since Rear Admiral Cecil Robinson was killed in
May,1972, during the Vietnam War. We did lose Lieutenant General Timothy
Maude during the 9/11 attacks here on home soil.
What truly saddened me was the fact our President, Barrack Obama, the
Commander-In-Chief of all United States Military Forces did not attend the
funeral for Major General Greene. No, our President decided it was more
appropriate for him to be out on the golf course playing a round, versus
going to the funeral of a U.S. Army two star general who was killed by enemy
fire. I am not sure how far it is from Martha's Vineyard to Arlington
National Cemetery, but I am relatively certain the President of the United
States does have a Marine helicopter at his disposal as well as a fairly
large airplane commonly called "Air Force One", so I think he could have
attended the service if he had wanted to. Perhaps he didn't bring a suit
along on his vacation.
By the way, Major General Greene served his/our country for 34 years. So
the way I see it, 34 years of military service, being a Major General and
being killed in ambush by hostile enemy gunfire isn't enough to get the
President, that this general served, to come to his funeral. This President
has reached a new all time low. I can think of no greater insult to all
U.S. military personnel, then our President failing to take a few hours out
of his precious day of vacation and golf to attend Major General Greene's
funeral service. I am positive it would have made things just a little bit
easier for the General's family had the President been at the service.
It was also reported that our President, failed to issue a decree ordering
all National Flags to be lowered in honor of Major General Greene. Oh I
almost forgot, not even our 2nd In-Command, old Vice President
What's-His-Name could drag himself to the funeral for Major General Greene.
Perhaps the V.P. is still recovering from the surgery he had when they
removed his foot from his mouth the last time he said something stupid. The
nice thing about being retired is that I can now pretty much say what I want
to.....You will never see two bigger P.O.S's than these two. Well now that
I think of it, Hillary wasn't there either.........Perhaps that was a good
thing though.....
