I picked up a mixed bag of M1 sights today included was a large aperture sight with a vertical grove, and what looks like an original SA grooved match sight. The round grooved part fits inside the hole in the grooved sight and has a ring for a clip to hold it in place. My question is where do I find the missing spacer and clip to put it all back together. Thanks in advance. Joe

If I am reading your post correctly you can get the detent, c-clip, and spring from several places.

Thanks for the help I wouldn't want to butcher it trying to make parts.

My bad, scratch the spring. It's been a while since I rebuilt mine.

It looks like a NM site and shroud I think it just needs a spaced and a c clip, unless there's supposed to be ball bearings sandwiched in between. Guess I'll have to wait til they arrive to be sure.

The ball bearings provide tension when the hood is adjusted/rotated.

Pretty much what I expected thanks for reassuring me. Now do the windage and elevation knobs have to be NM as well or will it work with the stock setup.

NM hooded aperture will work with standard knobs but aperture will not set as low as it needs to at close range without the NM/2 Base . The NM/2 is cut out to the shape of the hooded aperture.
Earlier NM apertures were a standard aperture with a smaller sight hole, the base looked like a standard base but had finer windage knob threads .
NM sights consist of NM aperture, NM base, NM windage knob, elevation knob is just a standard knob

This one appears to be an older style its got a smaller grooved aperture larger with a hole in the center that the hood sits in. The hood is grooved around the perimeter and V notched at the opening. Where the shaft of the hood meets the flatter section of the hood appears to be recessed spots for bearings.

If it is hooded it is the later NM style
