If you were trying to make your M1 correct would it be be better to have a barrel made on 1/43 on a 11/43 receiver or a 5/44 barrel on the 11/43? I saw a 1/43 barrel for sale with good muzzle and crown but has some pitting in the rifling. Have almost everything else correct now including SA op-rod, bolt, follower, safety, hammer, and complete trigger group all with the correct revision numbers. I also have a nice 5/51 barrel and don't want to ruin it by using the wrong barrel in case I decide to sell it someday. "When nothing is sure anything is possible"

Neither. During wartime production, its unlikely that your barrel would have dated after the receiver. Possible, but not by months. Receivers would have been assembled as fast as they were completed. They weren't sitting around for months waiting on a barrel.

So might as well just leave it in .308 then but still having everything else correct. Someone might want to put it back to 30-06 someday

Yes,that would be the best option.

Oh well two extra barrels are enough but still interested if you come accross another 10/43, 11/43 thanks.
