I purchased a 10/43 SA barrel the other day online and I'm confused how the owner meausured it. The guage clearly landed slightly inside the four line at the long point of the threads on an odd number only meaurement tool. But the listing says the throat was a five so I'm a little confused whether I or the seller is reading the guage correctly. He also listed the muzzle as a two and a half so I guess we'll have to see that when she come in as I only have the muzzle guage and see if I can get that number down with the PTG re crowning tool like I did on my other barrels.

PICS. It's the only way to tell accurately. Also, what kind of gage are you using?

1578Barrel came in yesterday and looks great for a 43, so stoked it all has matching numbers down to the month of the receiver.1577

Recrowning usually won't make the muzzle wear smaller. However, counter-boring will. I have a 9-42 SA and the barrel (original to the receiver) had a MW of about 2+, closer to a three. I used machinist's gage pins to check it and found that the last 3/16" was belled. I had it counter-bored and now it reads as a "0". It also went from an 8 ring gun to a 10 ring gun. This is my favorite JCG rifle.

She's chambered in .308 with match sights now. But like that I have all the right revision numbers and putting back to stock fairly easily. I want it mag fed but not hacking up a WW2 classic to do it.
