You all remember the old M1 Garand joke where a customer returned an M1 because it had a hole in the barrel 2 inches from the muzzle? Well, it happened to me!
I sold a Super Collossal Stupendous Premium Grade M1 ( with all new or like new parts) with a Kreiger barrel to a customer outside Chicago.
He took it to a local range, & the rangemaster (a gunsmith) wanted to check out the rifle before he could shoot it. He examined it with a bore LIGHT, and told him that he could not shoot it at his range because the barrel was defective, in that it had a hole 2 inches from the muzzle in the 6 o'clock position!$vomit$
Can you believe that? A full-fleged gunsmith not knowing about the Garand Gas port?
I sent my customer a full explanation of the location of the gas port , which he will take to the range with him next time.
Another customer returned an M1 because the took it apart and said "The operating rod is bent." When I explained to him why it was bent, he then asked,"Do you have a straight one?"
Famous Quote: "When you are arguing with a fool, be sure he is not similiarly engaged."
