View Full Version : Winchester Garand rear sight striations

I just got my first Winchester Garand receiver. The rear sight striations are much smaller and less pronounced than those on Breda and Beretta receivers.

Was the Winchester receiver designed to only use the lock bar sight? Or can I use a later USGI rear sight?

It will work with later sights, I would guess yours may be worn from use

Yes you can use the post war rear sights. Plenty of winchesters went
through arsenal rebuilds and probably had the T105E1 sights installed.

And here's a Breda rear sight pocket. They look different and that's what caused me to wonder....

You're fine. The serrations on the Winchester are approximately the same diameter as the elevation knob.
I have an HRA with the serrations like that. Most of my other rifles look like the Breda.

Did you get that Winchester receiver legally?
