I went and looked at the M1A Springfield Armory Rifle tonight. Next thing I know it was following me home. This has to be one of the nicest M1A's I've had the pleasure to see in while, I was happy to count out 10 presidents, I didn't even haggle. Opinions please.

Looks great - strip it down and tell us what it has for parts. Did you get any extra mags or other goodies with it?

I can't tell on the picture if the stock is GI or not. There are no inlets for the full auto switch or connector rod.

Here is some of the information I've been able to find about the rifle. It was built 07/89. One of the websites had this to say about rifles in this range:42201 to 063000 This is the serial number range that I refer to as the Golden Age of the M1A. The receiver design had fully matured by this time. The receivers were hand finished by the original designer and master craftsman, Melvin Smith. Springfield Armory, Inc. was awash in USGI parts during this period. Thus, factory built standard model M1A rifles in this serial number range were built with a very high USGI parts count. It was sold by SA as a complete unit. It was sent to Fulton Armory in 10.96 for a Tech Inspection and some work. When it game home from Fulton it went to the safe where it has been until tonight. I'll inspect the internals tomorrow to see how much of it is USGI. The more is investigate this rifle the happier I am. This maybe one of my better deals.

PS: We're now talking/dealing on a 1918, 1911 Colt U.S. Property .45 Cal pistol. I won't be eating for a while but will have plenty of weapons should those pesky Zombies try to take over.

Bill, you suck. And for the record, I just ordered two Mosin 91/30's. One for the kid, and one for me. So there.
Nice looking rifle, there, Mister. I'm assuming we'll be seeing a range report soon?

A little more information about the rifle. It has an SA bolt, with a TRW trigger assembley and an SA op-rod. I don't see any markings on the barrel but I didn't remove the hand guard. The stock is a standard SA walnut. The rifle is as clean inside as it is out I can't wait to shoot this rascal!
