Has anyone had any experiences with the reproduction M84 scopes on a Garand?
I read some reviews online about them and they are saying they are kind of crap for the money.

Never used one myself but word is the scopes and scope mounts arent worth the $$$$$$ and are junk
To be fair, the originals didn't have that great a reputation for ruggedness, either.

Go to the CMP forum and look up, "Tokiwartooth". He has made a hobby of refurbishing old scopes out of frustration with the normal repair people and his work is well thought of. I am thinking that he has had good comments on one of the repro M84 scope's....I can't remember which one though.
Added.....Its under the Assessories Column and the "M84 Repair" thread.

Hes says they are good if you know how to take apart a scope and tinker.

Cool, I am currently starting the process of turning mine into an M1D. Not for anybody else but me. I like the way the original ones look and I think I would be very happy with that style. Don't have $2000 to buy an og M84 scope though. So this is a valid option for buying a repro one.

Does anyone know where the repro M84's are made? I'm thinking by the sounds of the reviews, China. But I just do not know.

If you decide you want the real deal they are out there for decent prices. Just last year I bought a M1D with all USGI assceories for $2500. Its not documented but for the price it was worth it to me.
Good luck on your decision

I'm not really looking for an exact genuine M1D. I just want to turn my M1 into one that works like they should. I'm never selling mine. It's going in the coffin with me. Is there a better place to buy one from than another?
