I've often wondered something, if you are a wounded military veteran coming back from and recovering from a terrible wound, would you rather have an M1 rifle or a cool fishing trip like Sergeant Mixon was shown doing?

What I'm saying is, why not auction M1 rifles FOR Vets and use the monies to buy cool fishing trips, hunts, tickets to sporting events...? I'm not saying my take on this is right, just that my take may make some sense for some Vets. I'll bet that an officially auctioned M1 for Vets rifle would bring better than fair value if done say, 1 or 2 a week? There's a lot of Vets out there doing well and that would be happy to jack up auctions to help their brothers out. Just a silly idea from a guy who likes to make money.

Tim, you read my mind. I'm starting "Tuna for Vets". We'll have weekly Canyon trips starting later this summer.

I can't speak for them because I'm not in their situation, but if it was me, I would be happy that someone cared enough to do something for me and my family, regardless of what it was. I do see your point though, as a lot of wounded warriors are not necessarily gun collectors/shooters.

I get what you're saying, Tim, and I don't disagree, but I like redheep's take on this one. I'm thinking anything is better than nothing, which was the norm for a lot of guys not so long ago.
