Got one of the last Navy barreled receivers from CMP when they had them. Finally got all the parts together to finish it. Not much going on in the milsurp world, so finishing up projects now instead.

Here are a few pics of the BR:

Got most of the larger parts in the last couple of weeks, Stock and trigger group came from Dupage. Bolt came from Orlando!

Started work on the stock yesterday. Here it is after one coat of neutral stain and one coat of minwax gunstock stain.

Let that dry overnight, put one more coat of neutral stain on it and let it dry. Then I rubbed it down with bronze wool and applied a coat of 100% real tung oil from Hope's. Got that at my local old style hardware store.

Wiped off the excess after two hours, buffed it up and am letting it dry overnight. Another coat of tung oil will go on in the morning.

I love my 7.62 I did find that the chamber is NATO spec. I used a NATO field gague from Standard Pts to check for headspace as it would fail with a .308. These rifles were not meant to be fed .308 My action was cycling a little too violently. I installed an Orion 7 spring and used an adjustable gas plug. Made a big difference. Runs like a top.
