Help me save this carbine stock..

I picked up an IBM M1 Carbine. Tim reparked it, and removed the bayonet lug so it's all legal here in NY.

So the metal is all nice and new, but the stock needs some love. It does have a crack on the grip that I need some advice on repairing. I was thinking trying to push acetone thinned devcon epoxy into the cracks and clamp it. But this is new territory for me. What do you guys think?

I was going to strip and refinish it, but I kinda dig the FAT cartouches, and the rack numbers.

Its a Italian return that has gone through a rebuild/repark at Italain FAT arsenal

Thanks Orlando, that was my understanding. I think the finish is ugly, but don't want to mess up the cartouches or rack numbers, so If I can get the cracks filled I think I'll just give it a coat of BLO and leave it as is.

Does the recoil plate touch the back of the cutout in the stock ?
If so, that is what probably caused the crack.
You will have to remove some wood so that there is no contact with the
recoil plate.

The crack looks long in the picture. I don't know how you will get the
epoxy in the entire length of the crack.

Yes I believe it does. Remove material from around the Semi-Circle or the screw tang, or both?

The crack is about an inch or so. I'm not sure either, I'm looking for ideas. :)

I thought about thinning the epoxy and pushing it in with a brush, then squeezing and releasing the stock a few times while keeping fresh epoxy on top to suck it in.

Send it to Sean or Rick B.They can reconfigure it. Make it look like a regular stock, and fix the crack.

I have had good results with cyanoacrylate (krazy glue).

I did both on my stocks. I didn't remove a lot of wood for clearance either. Make sure recoil plate
is tightened down securely too.

I stripped it with citrus-strip The cartouches are still nice and intact. The wood is still stained with oil or what not. I am deciding if I want to soak it in acetone or not. I'm thinking I might leave some of them in for 'character'.. We'll see.
