View Full Version : Oops! Garand Bolt Tool?
I finally sent my receiver off to Tim for correcting to BM59 specifications, and realized that although I have .308 headspace gauges, I lack the tool to remove the extractor! Do y'all have any suggestions which is best?

A large, flat-blade screwdriver is the only tool required for disassembly of the M1 rifle bolt. Now the Carbine is another matter.

There has to be a You-Tube video of how-to without the "tool". Funny thing is I bought one of the tools and I've probably disassembled a dozen bolts without it because I totally forgot I had one.
I use the cleaning handle from a USGI cleaning rod.
Just make sure you wear safety glasses when you assemble the bolt.
It's easy to "launch" the ejector and spring across the room.
This might help.

Jon is correct about the carbine bolt. It took me about a hour to assemble my first carbine bolt.
After that I bought the tool.

As already suggested the bolt tool is not needed. I use a punch and the fingers God gave me

I have the bolt tool, but prior the cleaning rod handle worked just fine....
