I had purchased one of the CMP drill rifles several years back. The receiver looked OK to me, so I started putting together some parts I had in the bin. Add one completely broken stock repaired by Rick B and here you have it. I might even shoot it.

I would absolutely shoot that.I'll never be able to have an IHC,as I couldn't afford one,but I would love to find a former Drill Rifle.That is just as good to Me!Take Her out and let Us know what She can Do!!!

What did the barrel/receiver weld look like? I'm assuming there was no weld in the oprod track, correct? Post a pic of the whole rifle, if you would be so kind!

I'll pull it back out tonight. There was no weld in the track. The weld was on the bottom of the receiver ring.

I have had two that I restored recently and your receiver looks better than mine did and I have no problem firing them as the weld, as you pointed out is way out of the danger zone on the receiver and all the ones I've seen the weld is quite light.
