It will be interesting to see how they price them and grade them. Will there be price differential
for manufacture, WWI, WWII, Desert Storm etc or just the luck of the draw.
Probably won't happen for a while, anyway.

sounds as though they are still 2-3 years out if it does happen per CMP moderator

The last USGI M1911A1s were manufactured in 1945 - using the same crack-prone cheap steel and spot-hardening that was used at the time, and with the addition of 70 years (40 active) of wear and tear. I'll stick with a GI-style Rock Island Armory (http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/pist-rockislfullsize1911a45pistol.aspx) gun that'll likely be a lot less expensive than worn out CMP junk.

MJ is all about getting top dollar for his stuff nowdays. I say he'll have the different grades but they'll start at $1k. My guess also is there will be no collector grades, just worn out junk.

The fanatic M1 guys will become fanatic 1911 guys overnight. Is there a GCA for 1911's? Someone better to start one to get special access to sorting and advanced buying.

The peeps are at full froth about limits, how they should be priced and what should got to auction (if not all of them). I dont get it.

I'd like a nice sample for my collection but I'm not going to spend over $1500 for a mixmaster pistol they made over 2 million of. That as Eli said is on the fragile side.

I have a nice parts gun built with a post war fully hardened replacement slide, and NOS chrome lined barrel. Gives the USGI feel, but I'm not afraid to shoot it for fear of ruining an expensive gun.

My hope would be the release of these pistols would bring the price down in the market all together, so I could pickup a safe queen. But who am I kidding they'll probably go up. The CMP will set the market price..

Sounds like my Remington Rand won't be devalued by the new re-imports :D

I thought I had predicted the $1k start price.
