Northridge international is selling these on their eBay page for $20, so I decided to take a chance on one, see if I can get a flash hider to fit. Anyone order/have one and use a flash hider on it? Any idea where these originated from, and for what purpose? The one I got looks very well constructed, haven't checked the thread pitch yet though.

So this is for a standard Garand gas cylinder? Let us know what the threads are when you can.

Threads on the one I recieved are 9/16x24 rh. I think that's the same as the l1a1 flash hider. Shortening the rear end of the hider and it should screw on.

Hope it's OK with the board, here's a link to the part:

That's what I thought, wonder what they were originally used for

Who knows, probably Bernard at Northridge knows. Guess?---maybe a blank firing adapter (thread on restrictor)?

I bought a one a few months ago "just because". I have not decided what to do with it (yet) but have considered a Belgian FAL flash hider as one option.

Added a progress pic to the album in the op. Flash hider is an l1a1 chopped at the rear. Have to clean up the threads then I can work on fitting.
Isn't the L1A1 RH and the Belgian Combo Device LH?
