This one needs explaining...

This compensator came with my BM59. Not only has the bayonet lug been partially ground down, but the OD has been threaded for a large nut. My impression is that the previous owner was trying to create a harmonic stabilizer, where group size could be tweaked by making fine adjustments to nut position. Very odd, as the gun was full auto.

Anyway, I'm sure it still does its job, but it just looks odd. As 5" comps are hard to find, perhaps it has value to someone.

$50 shipped and I'll include the nut! USPS MO or Paypal gift/+3.5%.

Sir, what size are the threads on that nut and brake?

Going off caliper measurements, it looks to be a metric M22x2.

Roger that.

m22x1.5 is a standard oil filter size. Wonder if it was for a suppressor?

Oh, shizit... that might be a problem! I was wondering why that dimension sounded familiar.

I'm sure it was threaded for the filter to collect the cleaning chemicals when swabbing the barrel.

Well, huh. The thread is indeed M22x2 (0.080" pitch), which is a standard coarse thread. A standard oil filter wouldn't screw on (0.060" pitch).

The gun was purchased through Ruben at DealerNFA and came with this piece as an extra with the nut. Given it is a legal MG, I'd be surprised that the previous owner would attempt a bootleg suppressor. An oil filter would be destroyed on the first shot.

The owner did attempt to turn this into a "target" rifle as it came with a cheap scope and mount, plus the secondary sear surface on the hammer had been excessively filed to the point that it doubled. Given all that, I thought this was a poor man's harmonic stabilizer. Then again, the nut really doesn't stay put, and I'm beginning to wonder if it is indeed a jam nut for a screw on muzzle device.

I don't know what to think...
