I survived the lay offs today at work but I was sweating bullets. It was heart wrenching to watch.

Sucks but at least you survived. If I were you... I'd get my resume out there. Never a good sign when layoffs happen.

Being in the IT field I used to get laid off a lot. You almost came to view it as contract work. A a couple of those layoffs were good for me, most likely because I was still young. Today I'd have a hard time.

Water Monkey is right. If the company you work for is laying people off and you were worried, you still should be worried. I don't know if the industry you work in is dying or if the business is mismanaged but it's time to start thinking next step.
