I'm looking forward to it when I get home. I don't know much about all the stamps and stuff, but don't really care either.

I am curious about the four small markings on the underneath portion of the stock. Any takers?

They are just various inspectors marks. The square, circle and box are Remington marks. I don't know if there are any records on who or what they mean.

Welcome to the bolt gun fraternity! When I first started competitive rifle shooting I had an accurized 03A3 done by a former marine gunsmith. When I turned it in for an M1 I thought I was using reduced loads! There is a differance in the recoil impulse of the two and at first I was all over the target till I got used to the M1. Wouldn't part with my M1 but I do have a 03A3 in the background ready for use and trying to build another.

It was pleasure selling this fine rifle to Josh. I'm glad it found a good home.

I'm really looking forward to shooting it. I have a small obsession with cleaning and oiling the stocks, so I'm sure I'll be doing that as well. My step-grandfather was 4th MarDiv, 20th Engineers. Unfortunately, we never talked much about the war, except when he came to watch me graduate at PI, so I don't know what weapon he carried. But now that I have an '03A3, I own all 3 of the possibilities :)
Thanks to Bill. You are an awesome American.

The FJA stamp is for Frank J Atwood who inspected the weapon to be taken into US service. Great looking rifle and Semper Fi Heep.
