I keep trying to thin the herd but I always seem to find something I dont think I can live without. Just picked up this unissued USGI 7.62 barrel something you just dont run across very often any more. Going to build a a rifle with NM front and rear sights, unissued NM Op Rod and NM gas cylinder. Might even try my hand at bedding the stock

Nice Bill, what receiver do you have in mind?

Havent really given that any thought yet. I suppose I will use a HRA or a Post War SA receiver

I've done this build, with the bedding. Its a very worthwhile challenge. The rifle was scary accurate. The longest shots I took with it were 500 yards. I was very pleased. Is your barrel a 1-11 or 1-12?

I beleive all USGI 7.62 barrels are 1/12

I think you are right. I thought about it after I posted. :(. Have fun with the build.

Being a Govt teat sucker had the day of for Columbus Day :o
Rainy and nothing to do so decided to work on this build. Installed the barrel on a SA 5.4 mil receiver and used a NOS 65 series bolt. Got lucky and was close enough that I got it to headspace by lapping the bolt. Enough for today, will update as build progresses
