These are the sellers pictures I should have it in hand sometime this week.
The forearm is cracked but hopefully I can get it repaired. Is also missing a screw by the trigger group. What is this screw called and where can I find a original?
Pin on mag cover looks like it is working out , other than that it appears to be in good condition. Any comments, see any red flags? I am a Garand guy and these rifles are all new to me
The guy I purchased it from said it was his Dads who bought it 50 years ago. He fired it a few times with him over the years

I would love to add that to my collection. One of the only U.S. service rifles that I'm missing.
Nice find.

Rifle arrived and I have done a complete tear down clean and lube. This is a very interesting rifle, bolt has similarities to the AR. Rifle has a lot of parts, couldn't imagine doing this in the field. Have a new forearm and recoil spring on order. Then a range report

One of the Scare Canyon Ranch friends we built a cabin for was a member of the para-marines before they got folded into the 5th Mar-Div. He talked to me at length back in the 90's about his issue Johnson rifle. They turned them in before Iwo Jima for M-1's but he said when they jump qualified they had a case and dismounted the barrel for the jump making it a more compact package. I used to load .30 carbine for him and he said if he could find one he would have bought it without hesitation. Congratulation's on the find. According to Riley he used his on Bougainville during that operation. Rest his soul he was a fine example of that fantastic generation.
