1-Alright, since access to the War Room is voluntary, by request, some starchy types won't want to participate but they don't have to. Anyway, I think 200 posts to get in is excessive. I'd like to see the forum grow so why not 10 posts and then apply? The feds want to get in they have the manpower to do 200 posts anyway. So, 10 posts and an e-mail and you're in.

2-Encourage vendors. Other sights try to discourage people joining forums strictly to peddle their wares. I say welcome them with open arms! I'm always in need of something so having our own little store here would be very convenient. If they screw anyone they get judged and if need be the boot.

That's it for now. Stu

I dont know , to me the reason to join the forum is to learn and share knowledge on Garands, Carbines ,etc. The WR is a extra added benafit. If the only reason someone wants to join is because of the WR what are they adding to the forum?
Just my lowly opinion

Orlando, the War Room is an added benefit. My friend Tony is a real nice guy, but he thought some of our War Room antics were on the fringe. He is not a War Room subscriber. Myself, I enjoy a good laugh as well as serious time so I do subscribe. I just want to build a bigger member base because more members=more knowledge. As far as the selling parts goes, one of the Leica Forums I belong to frowned on it. Well, they changed their format an allowed both retailers and private sales. The retailers gave a 10% discount to forum members and the For Sale part of the forum was crazy busy. It also boosted membership and traffic which I think are good things. Stu

So your buddy Tony wont join because of the WR? I'm confused, which doesnt take much
I'm all for the forum growing just dont see why someone wouldnt join just because they cant get in the WR (But what do I know)

I see both sides and agree more members more knowledge but frankly I don't care how someone feels about the WR. If you don't like the WR stay out of it, if you enter it be prepared for what you are exposed to, which could be anything. If people want to join I always welcome them and answer questions or help them if I can. They can make their own mind up if they want to drive by or stay. Just my humble opinion of course.

The two opinions seem opposed, how can you ride with both?

The war room is what makes this forum bettter than others. Not because of its content, but because it is the only place on BT personal attacks, crude language etc are allowed. This results in better and more informed content on the other threads. Keep it unique to this forum by restrictring access.

As to vendors, if they contribute subject matter knowledge as opposed to just selling, ok with me. Of course this is Tim's place, his business, his call and I'm ok with whatever that call is.

Orlando, we are on the same page even though we might have said it differently. And with Howie on our side we must be right.

I haven't met any of you, but I'm not one to shy away from my opinion, so I thought I'd provide it for you. :)

I belong to a small forum on the net www.rockhardxj.com. It used to be about the non-club aspects of some of us that belong to www.naxja.com. It was our place away from the jeep club to vent and harass one another.

A few years has gone by and now it's pretty exclusive. I belong to the king's court so to speak and we're not afraid of throwing people out that we don't get along with and all of us at one time or another have wheeled together.

But that doesn't mean that we don't like to provide technical advice for a guy trying to modify his jeep or life advice for someone who's changing jobs, getting married or whatever. That's what the normal sections of the board is for.

We have a section called the campfire, which is accessible to people who register, but is policed firmly. Anything goes within the rules, but if you act a fool, you get shown the door.

I think the war room is a good time, but it's not the loudest or raunchiest place on the net (ever been to pirate4x4?). If the post limitations are bypassed on a case by case basis (as mine was) perhaps it's too excessive in the first place.

If you moderate it within the limits, there shouldn't be any reason why you can't let everyone in.

Let the dealers in, see how fast it gets overloaded with junk we have no interest or need for. Let the buyer filter...

From this date forward anyone with 5 or more posts may request entry to the War Room.

Perhaps so. My bet is that there's only 90% of the members who would want in. That is, if the past is any indicator.
