Most of you probably saw this on CMP, but for those BT diehards I'll post it here too. I think my wife got a little worried yesterday when I opened it and starting sputtering and stuttering nonsense like "single slot screw" and "lockbars" :)
And I apologize if it seems like I am bragging...BUT I TOTALLY AM!

Wow. I am glad to see that someone has received a nice rifle from the CMP lately. The last 3 I've received have been shit.
Very nice score Blockhead. can you post some more info? Cartouche? Barrel date? I'm thinking a 38k rifle would have been a gas-trap with flush-nut sites. It would be interessting to know when it was converted to gas-port and lock-bars.
Then again it could be a CMP put-together.

Who's arse did you have to kiss to get that sent to you?? Or maybe a $100 bill slipped into your request paperwork?
It must have a been a real slow day at Anniston for somebody to have taken the time to put all of that together. Excellent score!!!!

I haven't purchased a CMP rifle in something like 2.5 years. I may change that now.

Obviously they're at the bottom of the barrel, so the earliest ones are probably still to come.......;)$clapper$

Broke it down tonight. I've never been an "early" Garand guy just because they are so pricey to get correct parts for, so some of my identification of parts may not be the best. And thanks to all of you that told me I suck or that you hate me or that my lips were planted on someone's backside - that is why I still keep coming back to this den of iniquity :D

You got some amazing shit there my friend. The trigger guard, milled grooved bands and mid-low 5-digit receiver are awesome to say the very least.
Are the receiver ribs built back up or cut?

What did the barrel measure? Tell me less than 1 at the muzzle and I'll throw up.
