I have a few cans of delinked K 53 30/06 ammo from CMP. I seem to recall people having problems with this ammo - case ruptures or something. Can anyone refresh my memory? Have you had any problems with this stuff? Corrosive? Boxer or berdan primed?

Thanks in advance.

I've never had any problems with K53. But I treat it as corrosive and give a good scrubbing after every use.

That's the ammo that just blew up the gun over on the CMP Boards.

MIGHT use it in a bolt gun but would avoid it in a garand based on the reports of one rupturing and causing some damage to the gun,not worth the risk in my view. It is corrosive and berdan primed

That's why I don't order the loose rounds in the ammo can from the CMP.

I ran a clip of K53 through my M1 a couple years ago. IIRC, 50% of the rounds ended up with split necks and/or shoulders. Didn't like what was happening with it, so I pulled the remaining bullets, and junked the rest.

I bought 1 can of the belted Kynoch ammo and ended up selling it a few months ago to avoid the problems.
