View Full Version : Cut down 1942,and 1943 dated PAL Bayonets

These were the Chromed bayonets I showed a while back.I soaked them for a few hours in Muriatic Acid.They look a lot darker,but flash made them appear lighter.One is dated 1942,and the other is 1943.Not the best job,but at least They take cold blue and are not flaking Chrome.

Hump, are these the ones you ask Timmy about parking? And are you still considering it?

Bill,Yes they are.I was considering having the one without grips parked.

Did the Muratic Acid remove the chrome or just make it accept the blueing??

I'm not really sure,but I couldn't find wher it was flaking off,and seems to be even.I know nothing about Chrome,but was given this method to try.I am very interested to see if it would park though.

If the Muratic removed the chrome I dont see why it wouldnt take the park???

The layer of chrome is usually pretty thin, the acid may have taken it off. Underneath the chrome layer is usually a layer of nickel.

Looks like a good project. I have a couple that are canidates for this treatment. Want to see how they look parked.
