I just received a letter Today stating that Dad's Corneas were successfully transplanted to a recipient/recipients!Dad would help anyone, and taught Me that it is better to Give so I know that He would be proud that even in Death He could help Someone.I am proud to be listed as an organ Donor as well.

I'm a donor as well. I didn't know that they notified the family when organs were used. Cool story!

Humpi,
I cannot thank your dad but I will thank you. My wife is a double cornea transplant recipient The first donor was 32 and the second 21 both perished in car accidents without the transplants within 5 years she would have been totally blind, Its a bit over year for the first one and will be a year in September for the second. She had Fuch's endelthial Dystrophy in which the corneal cells were dying and leaving deposits which prevented the gas exchange, she described her sight as looking through wax paper all the time. Now her vision is currently corrected to 20/40 in one eye and 20/25 in the other. I am an organ donor as well if and when my untimely death comes I can help just one person than it would not have been in vain.
