1st step is to decide if you want a short break or a long one?
As far as short breaks there is the faux BM62 break, the Standard parts break(same as 62 except it has holes),5" long BM59 break .
Long breaks are the BM59 tricomp and the paratrooper detachable break (Somewhat rare), these do reduce recoil, but add a huge amount of length.
I would most likely go with the standard parts short break or the 5" BM59.
The 5" brake functions very well.Quote:

Got the shorter one, but haven't played w/ it yet.

The ones that Standard Parts sells resemble the BM59E brake except made for the drop-down gas cylinder. That would be my choice. You also have to remember that by design you can replace the BM brakes in about 2 seconds so you're really not locked into any one design.
hey PtC. whats your opinion on the Mini with the drop down? what do you think as far as the drop down over the USGI? is it just personal preference that dictates choice over the actual function?
I shot both over at Tim's house and they both functioned fine. Tim bends the op rods perfectly.
just talked with Greg at Standard Parts and ordered the new production BM59 gas cylinder and brake. hopefully Tim won't have any trouble putting this on the Criterion barrel i will send up with the rest of the parts. thanks PtC.
Everything but the biggest part $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ :)
