I have a mastiff, an alarm system and a gun beside the bed. You can't stop everything, but I suppose if a ninja is standing over me when I wake up, my time is up.
There is a zombie sub forum here, so I kind of figured BT people were preparing for that sort of thing.
I'm preparing for real undead zombies, you know, like the CDC warned us about.

I think some guys who talk a good game the loudest have no idea what it means to pull the trigger on a person. I know I don't. One time I was faced with the possibility of a burgalar in our house when we came home. Sign of forced entry and lights were on. Called the cops and waited outside. I had the chance to think to myself what am I going to do if someone comes out? I was armed. I certainly wasn't going inside looking for trouble all ninja like. It was sobering.
As far as SHTF, I'm a little too old and broken to go sprinting off into the hills with my go to gun. Short of a huge natural disaster and I mean big, I just don't see us degenerating into anarchy in my lifetime. Look at Katrina. Everything got back in order fairly quickly. I think this SHTF mentality thinks you are on your own for years fighting roving gangs.
We were very serious about this zombie problem a couple of years ago. The normal debates like double-tap or no double-tap. Things have been quiet on the zombie front of late.Quote:

After spending almost 30 years reading about SHTF scenarios, I see that it is unlikely an individual has much of a chance alone. The best preparations require a group to form togather. The group can be family or friends. I watched the show yesterday called CONTACT. It was a what would happen if aliens invaded earth. It acutally is a computer simulation used by the military to study asymetrical response like what is happening in Iraq and Afganistan. Pretty interesting the bottom line is none of the modern war machines really have much of a chance but guerilla tactics will cause enough small damage in the longrun that the ivaders will leave.
I would like to beleive I would be prepared but in all actuallity I would probably curl up in the fetal position
