I have a Rem 700 in 7mm mag , and to me the bolt feels gritty and unsmooth even after having been jeweled.The rifle has taken it's share of animals, but I have a new Winchester model 70 in .308 that is smooth as butter compared to the Remington. I have not shot it since getting the scope rings lapped. While shopping for the .308, I found a Steyr Scout that the bolt felt like it was on ball bearings. Oh it was nice but $$$$$$$$.I was able to get the cheap savage and model 70 out the door for less than the Steyr.
I am just not fond of the bolt on the Remmy.

I felt that the bolt to receiver fit seemed sloppy as it rattled around as I was working the action in the 700. It locked up fine but when it was not locked there seemed to be a lot of excess wiggling between the bolt and receiver. Maybe if it were not so completely dry and had some grease in there my impression would have been different.
